Honor the Heroes of The Raid at Cabanatuan, who rescued the Allied POWs held at a Japanese camp near Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on January 30, 1945.
In a nighttime raid, under cover of darkness and with distraction by a P-61 Black Widow night fighter, the 6th Ranger Battalion, Sixth U.S. Army, Alamo Scouts, and various guerrilla units surprised the Japanese forces in and around the camp and rescued 516 POW. Hundreds of Japanese troops were killed in the 30-minute coordinated attack; the Americans suffered minimal casualties.
